Fairwinds Women's Expo
Next weekend I am going to Merritt Island to the Fairwinds Women’s Expo. It is to raise awareness in human trafficking. These types of events are different from Cons or Craft Fairs per se, because they are raising money for a cause.
A big part of fundraisers are the raffles. I want to show off my talents; make it seem like the person is getting a good bargain for their money; and make it fun. So I went with a theme, Valentine’s Day. The hearts are sewn from red, pink, and white felt. The white beads were on left over Christmas rack and 75% off. Ribbon, on sale! I found red roses for flair. I even had a coupon for the wreath. The entire thing cost less then $15 and I placed a $75 value on it. Why? Shopping around for wreaths, that is the going rate and it does take time to put the entire thing together. Plus, never go with the couponing costs, always add up what it would cost if you had to pay full price for all the materials used. You never know when someone is going to say, “Hey, can you make me a wreath like that?” And you can’t find flowers/beads on sale. So when costing items out, I always go with full retail even when I didn’t pay full retail. Make sense?
Another part was the fact that they are keeping the amount of vendors limited and
already had someone selling purses. So instead of taking my passport purses, I am only taking lampshades and Hotz~n~Cozy microwave bowls. I made these in nautical/beach theme, fruits and red hope ribbons material to better suit Spring Time and the Merritt Island Area. My wineglasses are romantic and should do well for Valentine’s Day.
So if you are in the area, stop by to see the event. It should be a lot of fun as well as informative.
Remember: Always do what you love and you’ll never work a day in your
